Assault Inflicting Serious Injury by Strangulation
This crime is an extremely violent act that carries a high punishment. Blocking ones airway is considered a very severe offense that is dangerous to the victim. An assault inflicting serious injury by strangulation is punishable as a Class H felony and carries a maximum punishment of up to 39 months in prison. In addition, in a domestic context, the defendant is not eligible to bond out or for pre-trial release until at least 48 hours in jail.
